(Biwako shuukou no uta)
"Song of Rowing Round Lake Biwa"

(Warewa Uminoko sasurai-no)
  I am a child of the lake, I always travel

(Tabi-nishi areba shimi-jimito)
  Around it by boat; with a quickening heart,

(Noboru sagiriya sazanami-no)
  In the rising mist, on the rippling waves,

(Shiga-no-miyako-yo iza saraba)
  To the capital of Shiga, I bid farewell.

(Matsuwa midorini, sunashiroki)
  The pine trees are green and the sands are white;

  I hear that a young maiden of the Omatsu Village

(Akai tsubaki-no morikage-ni)
  Weeping behind the red camellia's forest,

(Hakanai koi-ni nakutokaya)
  For a short-lived love has passed away.

(Namino mani mani tadayoeba)
   On the waves wandering, I sometimes feel

(Akai tomaribi natsukashimi)
   A longing for the bright red lights of ports;

(Yukue sadamenu namimakura)
   Having no destination, I wonder

   Whether to stay at Imazu or Nagahama.

(Ruri-no hanazono sango-no-miya)
   Garden Lapis Lazuli, Palace Coral,

(Furui tsutae-no Chikubushima)
   Many legends of Island Chikubushima;

(Hotoke-no mite-ni idakarete)
   In Buddha's arms,

(Nemure otomego yasurakeku)
  I hope the young maiden is sleeping peacefully.

(Yanone-wa fukaku uzumorete)
   Arrowheads are buried deep in the earth;

(Natsukusa shigeki hori-no ato)
   The site of an ancient moat overgrown withgrass,

(Kojoh-ni hitori tatazumeba)
   In the ancient castle I stand alone;

(Hira-mo Ibuki-mo yumenogoto)
   Mt. Hira & lbuki stand like a dream.

(Saigoku juban Chohmeiji)
   At Chomeiji, the tenth temple of the pilgrimage,

(Kegare-no utsushiyo tohku sarite)
   The filth of the secular world seems far away;

(Kogane-no nami-ni iza kogan)
   On the golden waves, let us row a boat,

(Katare waga-tomo atsuki kokoro)
   Tell me my friend, your passion heart.
